Why join us
What you will find with us
A translation and interpreting agency in Montreuil, on the edge of Paris, that has worked with freelancers since it was founded. Six concrete reasons to join us.
The interpreting booth in our offices in Montreuil. Varied assignments
Interpreting by phone, by video call, on site in Île-de-France and at conferences; sworn and specialised translation, transcription, subtitling, voice-over. For social services, hospitals, courts, notaries, companies and private clients. You tick the modes you work in; you tell us when you answer.
Interpreter training
We offer our partners interpreter training, in particular in medical interpreting and telephone interpreting. New to the job, or switching modes: you are not left on your own. The details are explained during the conversation that follows your application.
A partner workspace
An online space to follow and streamline our work together: your assignments, purchase orders and documents, all in one place. Fewer e-mails, less back and forth. Your access details are given to you when you join the network.
On-time payment
Your work is paid on time, on the date agreed with you before your first assignment. No need to chase payment.
Rare languages come first
Tibetan, Tamil, Oromo, Tigrinya, Amharic, Chechen, Lingala, Turkish, Spanish… Your language may be the one we are missing. For our clients, in telephone interpreting, a rare language costs the same as a common one.
See the languages we are looking forThe entrance to our offices, building B. An agency, not a platform
Real offices in Montreuil, on the edge of Paris, and a team of about ten employees who answer the phone, 24/7, and follow up assignments. You know who you are talking to. All our translators sign a non-disclosure agreement; website and ERP are hosted in France.
The languages we are looking for
Your language may be the one we are missing.
We are looking first for interpreters and translators in these languages. Pick yours: the application opens with your combination already filled in. Your language is not here? The network covers nearly 200 languages and dialects, and it grows through its rare languages: apply anyway.

Applying
Who can apply?
Professional translators and interpreters who work as freelancers: sole trader, company, liberal profession or umbrella company. Our translators work into their mother tongue and our interpreters in their native working languages; each project goes to a specialist of the field. No SIRET number yet? Contact us at rh@aftraduction.fr: we will help you register.
Do I need to be sworn?
No. Our network brings together more than 800 linguists, including more than 150 sworn translators and interpreters. If you are sworn before a French court of appeal, name the court in the form: sworn translation covers 75 languages with us. Both profiles interest us.
How does the application work?
You answer six questions, including your rates if you wish, and attach your CV; you receive an acknowledgement with your reference straight away. Your file goes into our recruitment tool and the team reads it. If your profile matches our needs, we send you a short translation test, then offer you an interview, by phone or video, to get to know you and check your documents. We then create your partner profile and you receive your first requests.
Which documents, and when?
When you apply: your CV, or your LinkedIn profile, and your language combinations. Your supporting documents (registration, listing with a court of appeal, relevant diplomas) are requested afterwards, before the first assignments. Above €5,000 excluding VAT of services, French law requires us to ask for your URSSAF certificate of compliance (attestation de vigilance), renewed every six months.
I already work with AFTraduction: do I need to apply again?
No. Write to us at rh@aftraduction.fr to update your languages, your availability or your status: your partner profile is updated in our management system.
Assignments and languages
Which languages are you looking for?
First of all: Tibetan, Tamil, Oromo, Tigrinya, Amharic, Chechen, Lingala, Turkish, Spanish… and the rare languages of Africa, Asia and the Caucasus listed on this page. Our network covers nearly 200 languages and dialects across all services, and 75 languages in sworn translation. Every language interests us: if yours is not in the form’s list, type it under “A language missing from the list”.
What assignments do you offer?
Interpreting by phone (service open 24/7, connection in about 5 minutes on average), by video call (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex), on site in Île-de-France (one-hour minimum, travel included) and at conferences; sworn, agency-certified and specialised translation in twelve fields; transcription, subtitling, voice-over, post-editing.
Our interpreting servicesDo I need to live in Île-de-France?
For on-site interpreting, we work in Paris and the seven départements of the region: that is where we need you. For phone, video call and translation, you work remotely.
On-site interpretingHow are assignments allocated?
According to your languages, your fields, your availability and the modes you work in. For a phone call, the service contacts the available interpreters for the requested language; for a translation, the team chooses a native translator who specialises in the field.
Telephone interpretingTerms and payment
How and when am I paid?
Your work is paid on time, on the date agreed with you during the conversation that follows your application, before any assignment. Between businesses, French law sets the payment period at 30 days by default and 60 days at most from the invoice date; any delay gives rise to late-payment penalties and a fixed recovery fee.
Do you offer training?
Yes. We offer our partners interpreter training, in particular in medical interpreting and telephone interpreting. The details are explained during the conversation that follows your application.
Will I have an online workspace?
Yes. An online partner workspace to follow and streamline our work together: your assignments, purchase orders and documents, all in one place. Your access details are given to you when you join the network.
What will I sign?
A non-disclosure agreement: all our translators sign one, and our interpreters and transcribers are bound by the same commitment. You remain self-employed and organise your work freely.
Your data
What happens to my data and my CV?
Your application is stored on our website and in our ERP, both hosted in France, in line with the GDPR, with encrypted connections; only the agency’s team has access. It is used to review your application and, if it is accepted, to create your partner profile. You can have it deleted at any time, on simple request: with the link in your acknowledgement, or by writing to rh@aftraduction.fr.
